Pienas LT (BaltMilk) has successfully completed the SMETA audit according to the latest SMETA 7.0 methodology developed by the global organization Sedex.

SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) is a globally recognised social auditing methodology widely used in international supply chains. The audit evaluates company performance across four key pillars:

• Labour standards

• Health and safety

• Environmental performance

• Business ethics

The SMETA 7.0 methodology introduces clearer audit requirements and places stronger emphasis on evaluating the effectiveness of company management systems. It also encourages collaborative action planning between suppliers and buyers to address more complex challenges.

SMETA audits play a critical role in ensuring transparency, ethical operations and responsible supply chains for companies operating in international markets.

During the audit, three non-conformities were identified. All were addressed and resolved within the specified timeframe.

The auditors also highlighted six key strengths of BaltMilk, including:

• A non-discriminatory working environment

• High standards of workplace cleanliness and hygiene

• Transparent and compliant wages with additional employee benefits

• Strong focus on employee health protection

• Active accident prevention measures

• Implementation of renewable energy solutions
